Dear Colleagues,

Hereby we cordially invite you to the 32nd annual meeting of the German Atherosclerosis Society from April 19th – 21st 2018 in Rauischholzhausen.

This year’s meeting will be under the topic of Atherosclerosis and Diabetes. Accordingly, we will have a joint session with the German Society for Diabetes (DDG) in which we will present the latest news out of science and clinic on this relevant disease dyad. As in the years before we will of course also center stage all other areas of Atherosclerosis research including the relevant comorbidities which will be addressed in various poster and oral abstracts sessions. This will enable you to gain a comprehensive inside into the latest developments in basic science and their clinical realization in this field.

We are proud that we were able to acquire a selected group of nationally and internationally renowned speakers. This year we will have the particular honor to have two keynote lectures given by Prof. Dr. Catherine Hedrick and Prof. Dr. Klaus Ley from the La Jolla Institute of Allergy and Immunology in USA. Both are highly renown experts in the field of immunology and inflammation in various disease. Klaus Ley is also an active protagonist of a potential future vaccination strategy in Atherosclerosis. In an effort to cooperate internationally we will also have our second joint meeting with the Egyptian Society for Vascular Biology and Atherosclerosis (EAVA) on the topic of cardiovascular risk management 2018.

Apart from show casting the latest science out of our various research laboratories we will continue in this year to focus on clinical practice of the present and the future. A dedicated session on precision medicine in cooperation with the working group Heart and Diabetes (AG23) of the German Society of Cardiology (DGK) will ask the question where we are in terms on an individualized medicine today.

As in the years before we will, along with the W.H.-Hauss Award and the Rudolf-Schönheimer-Medal, award a couple of young investigator and poster prizes for the most exciting scientific and clinical projects of our young investigators, who we particularly encourage to submit their projects.

We hope our invitation raised your interest and we will be happy to welcome you actively in our annual meeting in Rauischholzhausen in 2018.
